2 Weeks To Live

Thomson, dressed in a light coloured suit, leaning against a car, with a gun in her waist holster

Thompson
Terri

I came out of this show loving Thompson, and desperately wanting fic about her and her relationship with Terri based off the little bits of phone conversations they have. Thompson is completely comfortable talking to her, and they've got little injokes that kind of imply a longstanding and close relationship. I know that one half of the relationship is never seen onscreen, and the other half has an unfortunate encounter with a landmine in the final episode, but that hasn't dented my love for them at all. I do ship them, but I'd be equally happy with friendship fic, or something focused on their working relationship.

I love Thompson's attitude, the way she just gets shit done, and doesn't let Brooks take over, despite him nominally being her boss. I've got a real competence kink, and she hits that perfectly.

We don't know much about Terri, beyond her being Jimmy's daughter, but when she takes over Brooks and the other's are pretty terrified of disappointing her, which suggests she's just as ruthless as Jimmy, and she's able to rustle up a squad of heavily armed minions at a moments notice, which implies she'll have no problems running the show.

Prompts

Something set pre-canon, when they're talking on the show they're joking about old dogs needing to learn new tricks, so maybe they've been planning for when Terri takes control, possibly plotting a coup to take over from Jimmy and Brooks. Or they just get together to complain about the old boys club running things into the ground, and how they could do the job so much better.

Was Terri the one who recruited Thompson into the business, or did she befriend Thompson to have an inside woman in her dad's inner circle?

Perhaps Jimmy had Thompson act as bodygaurd to Terri, not knowing that behind closed doors, they were getting it on every time his back was turned.

Post canon, we never actually saw a body, so hurt comfort fic, where Terri nurses Thompson back to health. Something where they take over the business, are there issues from the missing money and Brooks' betrayal.

Road trip fic where they head off to track down Kim, in revenge for Jimmy's death. Perhaps they decide to keep her, after all she's pretty well trained and lethal, and they need a replacement for Brooks, persuading her to work for Terri could be their new hobby.

Ancient British Stones (Anthropomorphic Stones

picture of ancient rock on a grassy common

The Longstone of Minchinhampton
Mên-an-Tol (Penwith Moor)
The Merry Maidens (Boleigh)
Whispering Knights (Rollright Stones)

I admit the idea for this started for me with the Longstone, after I read a piece that talked about the legend that said the stone would frolic around the common on the stroke of midnight. I've read about lots of legends and lore about ancient sites, but something about the idea of a large lump of rock frolicking just lodged in my mind. The idea may have started there, but please don't think I'm more interested in the Longstone than the others, I selected any because I'd be equally thrilled by anything about one or more of them.

I realise this is an odd request, so I really will be happy with anything. Write about the inner lives of the stones, how they feel about the world, and what it's like to see the world change around them. Or write about one of the legends associated with the stones, are they real? How do those pieces of lore work in the modern world.

For more specific prompts see my letter

The Longstone of Minchinhampton

Tell me about the Longstone's life. Is it lonely up there on the common? Most of the other rocks got broken up and taken away.

There's not much to see on the common aside from the cows, does it get bored and decide to frolic further, maybe visiting other old rocks?

Does it feel intimidated by the larger more famous stones, and want them to like it?

How does it feel about sick children being passed through its holes, is it choosing to help them, and how does it feel about being seen as a magical cure?

Mên-an-Tol (Penwith Moor)

How do they feel about their missing stones from the original circle?

The stones' positions were altered in the early 1800's, how do they feel about that? Do they like the better view, or are they pissed off about being moved about?

Does their fairy guardian exist? Is he as immortal as the rocks, and what's their relationship like?

Passing through the stone seven times was supposed to aid fertility, do the stones mind, and are they being deliberately helpful, or is the fairy guardian playing changeling games?

The Merry Maidens (Boleigh)

The nineteen of them have been stuck together for a long time, do they get on, or are they sick to death of the company?

Are they angry at the Pipers for trying to run off and escape their fate without warning them.

Legend has it that they were maidens turned to stone for dancing on the sabbath. What if they got turned back, how would they celebrate in a much changed world?

Whispering Knights (Rollright Stones)

How did the four standing stones deal with the fall of the capstone? Is it still part of them, or did the fall finish it off?

How do they feel about being stuck in proximity to the Kings Men, with only four of them, compared to the seventy seven in the other circle?

Lore around the stones says the King and his Knights were turned to stone by Mother Shipton? What happens if they get turned back? Do they head for Mother Shipton's cave looking for answers? Do they blame the King for getting them into trouble. Or perhaps they head out to explore the world.

Other legends have women running naked round the stones to hear their future husband's name, or of married women rubbing their breasts against the stones to aid fertility. How do the knights feel about that?

However if none of those prompts tempt you, please go with whatever idea you get have, I'm honestly interested in seeing what thinking about the rocks might inspire someone to write.

Blackpool

Peter Carlisle and Ripley Holden, from Blackpool, still from these boots are made for walking

Ripley Holden
Peter Carlisle

I love this show a truly ridiculous amount, I've watched the DVDs more times than I can count. I love the music, and the surreal dance numbers, and everything about the Blackpool setting.

I don't mind if you include Viva Blackpool canon, or choose to stick with just the original show.

From the monent Ripley and Peter launched into "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" I began to crave fic for them. Everything about their relationship interests me, their obsessions with bringing each other down, their need to prove themselves the bigger and better. The mixture of antagonism, and the way they can't seem to stay away from each other just makes me want to know more.

I do ship them, but if you don't, then I'm fine with gen that focuses on their relationship. I love the push and shove nature of their relationship, how neither of them will ever give an inch.

Prompts

Getting together fic that starts with them drowning their sorrows after the events in the finale, they're horrified when they sober up, but it just keeps happening.

Soneone bigger and badder than Ripley comes to town, and they grudgingly have to team up to take the newcomer down.

Peter finally wins and gets Ripley locked up, but realises things are a lot less interesting without Ripley, so he starts visiting him in jail. Or he leverages his win to have Ripley as an informant, so everyone thinks Ripley's doing business as usual, but behind closed doors Peter's in charge.

Ripley gets something big over Peter and tricks or blackmails him into working together, how does Peter take to the dark side? Does he keep fighting, or does he start to enjoy being under Ripley's control.

Hope there's something here that helps, and that you have a great yuletide.
